I think that this photo is more likely to have been taken just after WW2 UNLESS that is the bunch of bananas hanging on the bar were false ones. My memory tells me that bananas were not that easy to come by in the war years and I can recall my Mother queued up for such rare items.

Hi Richard

Having checked with Beryl Tucknot, daughter of the Greengrocer, it was during WW2 and the Bananas were fake.
